REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR 2013/2014
 
Welcome to Pleasant Valley School District

On September 30, 2011, Governor Schwarzenegger signed the Senate Bill (SB) 1381, the Kindergarten Readiness Act. This law changes the age a student must be to enroll in kindergarten and is being implemented incrementally by school year as follows:

·       2012-2013: Children must be five years old on or before November 1

·       2013-2014:  Children must be five years old on or before October 1

·       2014-2015 and each school year thereafter children must be five years old on or before September 1

Kindergarten registration and registration for 1st - 8th grade students not currently enrolled in Pleasant Valley School District took place at school sites the week of March 11th - 15th, 2013. If you have not registered your student, please register at your neighborhood school now. (Registration forms will be accepted at the District Office, 600 Temple Ave. starting June 24th. The school offices will be closed for summer vacation).
Please complete and print all forms for the appropriate grade level. Proof of birth date, immunization record, and two forms of proof of residency are required to complete student registration. Legal evidence of proof of age are birth certificate (original or certified copy) passport or immigration certificate.

Please Note:
5th grade students currently enrolled in Pleasant Valley School District do not need to register for middle school. Students will automatically be enrolled in their neighborhood middle school.
For incoming kindergarten students:  Please turn in your registration forms to your neighborhood school with your child's current immunization record now. Please do not wait to register until your student has had all of his/her immunizations and the oral exam and physical form are completed. Students need to be compliant with immunizations by the time school begins, compliant with their oral exam by May of their kindergarten year, and compliant with a physical by 1st grade. They do not need to be compliant to register.
 
Pre-K registration will take place at Dos Caminos, El Descanso and Las Posas Schools April 15th - 19th, 2013.

January 25              1:00 – 1:45 p.m.                                                       February 4             9:15 – 10:15 a.m.

January 28              9:15 – 10:15 a.m.                                                     February 15           9:15 – 10:15 a.m.

February 15            1:00 – 1:45 p.m.                                                        March 1                  1:00 – 1:45 p.m.

 

Camarillo Heights, Dos Caminos, El Descanso, La Mariposa, Las Posas, Rancho Rosal, Tierra Linda Schools - (Each of these schools have a meeting on their campus on following dates):

February 4              9:15 – 10:15 a.m.

February 15           1:00 – 1:45 p.m.

March 1                   1:00 – 1:45 p.m.

April 15                    9:15 – 10:15 a.m.

Principals will discuss the kindergarten curriculum, transitional kindergarten, kindergarten readiness, and answer parent questions.
 

PARENT INFORMATION MEETINGS FOR INCOMING PRE-K STUDENTS

Pre-K Programs are offered at Dos Caminos, El Descanso and Las Posas Schools. Pre-K parent information meetings will be held at those sites on:

·       February 27 from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m.

·       March 15 from 9:15 – 10:15 a.m.      
 
TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN - Transitional Kindergarten is the 1st year of a two year kindergarten program. Transitional Kindergarten uses a modified curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate for students in an effort to prepare them for kindergarten. Our goal is to notify parents if the request has been approved the week of April 15th. REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS - This flyer contains immunization requirements as well as information regarding the health exam and dental exam.
LOS PRIMEROS SCHOOL OF SCIENCES & ARTS - Los Primeros School of Sciences & Arts (LPSSA) is a K-8 Magnet School. Parents interested in having their student attend LPSSA for the 2013-2014 school year must submit a lottery application to LPSSA or the District Office between February 4 and February 22, 2013. LPSSA LOTTERY APPLICATION
INTER-DISTRICT TRANSFER FLYER  - Pleasant Valley School District accepts students from outside the Pleasant Valley School District boundaries based on space availability. Parents must go to their home district to obtain an Inter-District Transfer Agreement. Students should remain enrolled in their home district until the parent(s) are notified that a space is available in our district.
