{Map of California} School districts throughout the state have the difficult assignment of trimming costs and determining budget priorities for the 2008-09 school year. In our district, it is estimated that the budget shortfall will necessitate avoiding costs to our budget in a magnitude of approximately $1,700,000. When you consider that over 86% of our budget is expended in people (salaries and benefits) one begins to understand the challenge before us.
A budget review process is in place and your input is important. As a district employee, parent or community member, we invite you to provide insight and counsel as a member of our review committee as we look at the potential adjustments. We want to be certain that all stakeholders have input and we make the best decisions that provide the least impact to classroom instruction.
