What are HSAs?
Each year our PTA selects an individual from our school or community to receive the Honorary Service Award (H.S.A). The H.S.A. recognizes an individual who has demonstrated outstanding service to children or youth in our community. Your nominee could be someone from anywhere in our community. He/she does not have to be a member of the PTA nor does he/she need to have children enrolled at our school. He/she can be any member of the community and/or group within our community. The La Mariposa PTA makes a set donation to the CA State PTA in each recipient's name. Recipients receive a framed certificate and are formally recognized at the Camarillo Council Awards banquet held each Spring. Funds contributed to the HSA Program provide resources for the California Scholarship and Grant Program. (In 2009 La Mariposa received a $1000 Healthy Lifestyles Grant for our Play for Life Program thanks to CA State PTA and their HSA Program.)
Award Categories:
HONORARY SERVICE AWARD
An Honorary Service Award (HSA) may be given to an individual or organization in special recognition of outstanding service to children and youth.
CONTINUING SERVICE AWARD
A Continuing Service Award (CSA) may be given to an individual or organization in special recognition of continued service to children and youth and may or may not have received a California State PTA Honorary Service Award.
GOLDEN OAK SERVICE AWARD
The Golden Oak Service Award is the most prestigious PTA award in California. This award may be given to an individual or organization that has made significant contributions to the welfare of children and youth in the school or community. La Mariposa has only awarded this one time.
VERY SPECIAL PERSON AWARD
The Very Special Person (VSP) Award may be given by individuals or PTA constituent organizations to recognize an individual or group.
