  • International Walk/Bike to School Day, 10/5Walk to School
    International Walk/Bike to School Day is a one-day event that occurs around the world every October. Children, parents, teachers and community leaders walk to school together to promote being active and making streets more friendly for walking and bicycling. The goals of International Walk/Bike to School Day include: increasing physical activity among children, teaching safe walking skills, easing traffic and improving the environment around schools.   • Interface Family Services: Parent Information Night
    Our first Interface Children & Family Services parent presentation night is October 20 at 6pm in the La Mariposa MPR. The presentation focuses on parenting skills to improve relationships with children. The topics are “Coping with Stress” and “Behavior at School.”

  • Yearbook Cover Contest! "Roaring in Color!"
    It's that time again for our kids to take a special part in creating the cover for the La Mariposa yearbook! All instructions and forms will be sent home with your child on Friday, October 7th. They will have 3 weeks to create their special artwork with final submissions due no later than Thursday, October 27th. This is such an exciting project, as the kids love to see their artwork on the cover or throughout the pages of their Yearbook! Please contact Susan Weerakkody at with any questions.

  • Student Leadership Meeting
    4th and 5th grade students who are interested in running for a Student Leadership position this year, be sure to attend a mandatory informational meeting during lunch on Monday, October 3rd in Mr. Ford’s classroom, Room D - 4. We will be discussing Student Leadership requirements, positions, and the election process. We can’t wait to see you there!!!

  • Women in History
    In March, the AAUW (American Association of University Women) and La Mariposa School will once again present Women in History Week. We need volunteers to portray the famous women profiled in this year’s program. Please click here for details. Time donated can be anything from a morning to several days, and you will be provided with a script and props for classroom visits. The students really look forward to these performances! We need to have volunteers sign-up by October to ensure adequate time for training and distribution of materials. Click here to learn more about the Women in History program.   • Innovation Center: Cardboard Paper Towel Rolls & Empty 2 Liter Soda Bottles Needed
    Our new Innovation Center continues to plan amazing projects for La Mariposa students. Cardboard paper towel rolls and 2 Liter Bottles are needed for upcoming activities. Please deliver cardboard rolls (only from paper towels) and the empty bottles to the Innovation Center; there will be a marked drop-off box. Thank you for your support!

  • Fall Box Tops Contest Starts Now!Box Tops
    All of those Boxtops you have been saving might earn you a $10 gift card! Prizes for top 20 collectors (grade 1-5). All Kindergarten participants receive a small prize and certificate. This is an individual contest so please put your name and teacher on your submission.   • Coffee with the Principal 
    Once a month, the Principal has an informal meeting with parents and the community regarding the state of the school, upcoming events, and future programs. The purpose of the meeting is to inform all the stakeholders of the school. Parents and community members are invited to express positive feedback.
