We have lots of fun and exciting Science activities planned all week for the entire school. Do you have a bit of ENERGY to spare? We are requesting a volunteer from each class to help with a 30 min workshop during the week, please check with your child’s teacher if a volunteer is still needed. We also need volunteers during our lunch demo sessions. Each slot is for 1 hour and you would help keep the kids safe and the noise level appropriate. The demos will occur by the side bus gate under a few pop-up tents. Check out the SignUp Genius link here. Please contact Patti for more information.
Is your head itchy, yet? There’s nothing like just the mention of lice to provoke parental anxiety that borders on hysteria in even the best of us. Unfortunately, much of this panic is based on fear and lack of knowledge. The good news is, PVSD has done their research and created a policy (Board Policy 5141.33) in line with a study published in Pediatrics: The Official Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Just in case you like reading medical journals, we’ve provided you with the link here. However, if you'd like a quick way to clear the hair- we mean air- on the topic of head lice; check our TOP TRUTHS —we think you should read them all, but we really like #1, #2, and #9…and remember, when a child has lice—it’s extra important to BE NICE!
Healthy Lifestyles The PVSD Board of Trustees recognizes the link between student health and learning and desires to provide a comprehensive program promoting healthy eating and physical activity for District students. The PVSD Wellness page has some great resources for both nutrition and physical activity, even a wonderful section on local walking, hiking, and biking trails.
Yearbook Photos Now is the time! Please submit your photos for the Yearbook as soon as possible. We are especially looking for photos for the "class pages." Please share some photos from your class centers, parties, field trips, lunchtime fun, etc. Our committee is small and we appreciate these submissions! If you are already in the classroom and taking photos, it's just one more step to email them to us. Please use these guidelines to help us create the best memory book for our kids! Send photos and/or questions to Susan at email@example.com or Kamala at firstname.lastname@example.org
Each month our principal will host an informal discussion meeting with parents and community members. This is an open meeting where she will share information on topical issues. Parents and community members are invited to provide positive feedback and to express questions and/or concerns. Click here for meeting dates.
