    Angelica Ramsey
    Angelica Ramsey, Ed.D., was recently appointed as the superintendent of schools for the Pleasant Valley School District (PVSD). Prior to joining PVSD, she served as associate superintendent at the Santa Clara County Office of Education (COE). Dr. Ramsey led the COE’s Educational Services Branch. The branch supports the county’s public school districts through professional development, curriculum and instruction development, assessment and accountability, safe and healthy schools, district and school improvement services, charter schools, and expanded learning.

    She was very active in statewide leadership, serving as a member of the Curriculum and Instruction Steering Committee (CISC) of the California County Superintendents Equational Services Association. She served as an executive committee member for two years. She also held the role of regional lead for the Region 5 assistant superintendents of curriculum and instruction encompassing Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Monterey counties. In 2016, she chaired the statewide CISC Symposium, California’s annual conference for curriculum and instruction.  For three years, she co-chaired the statewide school readiness subcommittee, providing guidance and resources to California county offices of education in the area of birth through transitional kindergarten. For two years, she served as the statewide liaison for English Learner policies.

    Prior to returning to her native California, Dr. Ramsey worked as a teacher, athletic coach, assistant principal, and principal in the two-time BROAD finalist, Socorro Independent School District in El Paso, Texas. The BROAD Prize is an award for schools that have demonstrated high academic outcomes, especially for low-income students and students of color. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of the Pacific, a master’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.
